Flora and vegetation survey commenced
Botanist Kelli McCreery carried out a flora and vegetation survey at the Warralakin property. Quadrats were established within granite outcrop, sandplain and breakaway landforms, complemented by several relevés, to further describe these vegetation types and to target late winter flowering or fruiting plants. This marks the first step in documenting the property’s rich floral diversity and defining different vegetation types. While broad photos of the granite outcrop quadrat may appear mostly bare, closer inspection reveals an abundance of micro-herbs and grasses. Collected specimens will contribute to a herbarium, to be located in the homestead.
